Give Flowers on Facebook

Filed under: We Like It, weird and wonderful — admin @ 3:36 pm

Heard a very interesting feature on RTE Radio One the other day. Facebook are hoping to expand into the “real world”. At the moment, we often get virtual gifts on Facebook from our friends. Maybe you’ve gotten a hug or a cake or a bunch of flowers (or in one weird case a “balcony full of washing”…).

A Domain Name To Call Your Own

Filed under: Webspread Design Blog — admin @ 12:23 pm

Word Wide Web

A lot of new Directory Websites have arrived on the scene lately. Many of these directories offer businesses their own page within the site, providing them with a one page site in which to promote themselves. You may even be given a free domain name that is an extension of their domain.

While this can be a great way of attracting new customers, it’s use as a publicity or marketing tool for your business is very limited. A great way to boost the advantages of these type of pages is to still have a link to your own website on them. Any business that wants to have a professional online presence needs to purchase its own domain name. With prices from companies such as so low these days, there’s really never been a better time to get one!

When choosing your domain name, try to go for something short and catchy. An excellent tip is to try to include a keyword in your name, as this may help your site’s search engine ranking. If you are a registered Irish company, dealing only with Irish clients it is a good idea to go for a .ie domain name. In all other cases, a .com extension is the most popular, and and so easiest to remember (as apposed to asking your clients to remember that you are .biz or .tv or other uncommon extensions). There are however a couple of exceptions to this: government sites which should end with .gov, educational sites should end with .edu and non profit websites which should end in org.

If all this domain name business is new to you, we’re more than happy to help you find the right domain name for your site and purchase it for you!
